Alargada Beans

Alargada Beans

Alargada, long white rounded beans, delicious when used in a casserole or braised with summer vegetables. A medium sized, ready-cooked haricot bean that is similar to the Italian Cannellini bean. Dense and slightly chewy, these beans hold together very well in cooking. Their texture is a little floury with a pleasant firmness in the mouth and flavours of fresh vegetables with savoury hints. Perfect served simply with good olive oil, as they do in Spain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our beans are cooked simply in water and salt, before being packed in their cooking liquid, retaining flavour and moisture. Depending on the variety of pulse, this brine may be more or less starchy. Rinsing jarred beans is optional. A quick rinse to remove the brine can help reduce salt, but this cooking liquid can also work almost as a stock, to add flavour and thickness to soups and stews.

Yes, jarred beans are fully cooked and ready to eat straight from the jar. They’re a convenient and nutritious addition to salads, grain bowls, or dips.

Once opened, store your jarred beans in the fridge with their liquid in an airtight container. When refrigerated properly, they usually last 3–5 days.
