Gordal Olives, jar

Gordal Olives, jar

Gordal olives are the largest olive variety commercially produced in Spain, and among the most prized. The name says it all: gordal means fat in Spanish, a nod to their generous size, firm flesh, and satisfying, meaty bite.

Perelló’s gordal olives are grown in the heart of Andalusia and harvested between September and October, when the flesh is at its firmest and the flavour at its most balanced. Light green in colour, with a thin skin and a clean, slightly fruity taste, refined brine, a gentle oiliness, and just the right amount of acidity.

This addition to the Perelló range arrives without guindilla, making it the choice for those who want all the character of a great Spanish olive, without the heat. Packed in a resealable jar for freshness, shelf presence, and easy serving.

What does Gordal mean?

Gordal translates as “fat”; these Sevillian olives were given the name because of their size. The largest type of olive grown commercially in Spain, these are probably the most popular Spanish olive in the UK because of their crisp, meaty flesh.
