    Pickled Cocktail Gherkins

    Pickled Cocktail Gherkins

Pickled cocktail gherkin. These mini gherkins are tiny cucumbers pickled in a mixture of vinegar and brine. They are moist, crunchy, sharp and an excellent accompaniment to cured meats and cheese. Amazingly versatile, they can be used in hamburgers, salads and smoked fish, or as an ingredient in cold sauces, such as sauce gribiche (made with gherkins and capers) or tartare sauce.

What is the difference between a gherkin and a cornichon?

Essentially gherkins and cornichons are the same; cornichons are generally smaller than gherkins but the main difference lies in the flavouring of the brine. Cornichon brine is flavoured with tarragon while gherkin liquid is flavoured with dill.
