Grown From Tradition
Our story dates back to 1964, when the young Gaspar Perelló created his business and his brand after his own surname Perelló, with the simple image of a single large green olive, the gordal.
Gaspar had been mentored in Alcalá de Gaudaíra and taught the art of selecting the best olives southern Spain could provide. The Perelló olive curing and packing operation Gaspar set up soon began selling olives and pickles to stallholders at Barcelona’s famous Boqueria market . Gaspar’s olive range included northern and southern varieties – gordal, manzanilla, empeltre and arbequina, alongside some excellent pickles.
Inspirado en España
In the early 90s, this Perelló market stand caught the eye of Monika Linton, co-founder of Spanish specialist Brindisa, as she researched Spanish foods to bring to London. Tasting her way through the olives and pickles, she was hooked: she negotiated, met his business partner and wife María Ribó, made friends and began shipping large tins of gordal olives, an olive that over the last 30 years has become synonymous with the Perelló name.
After nearly 30 years of working together, building distribution and innovating retail tins, it was time for Gaspar and María to retire. Monika Linton and Brindisa now continue Perelló’s work, diversifying the ranges, the designs and the packaging, to embrace Spanish foods at their most classic and simple.
Spanish Simplicity
Monika first fell in love with Spain in the 1980s through her language studies. Since the founding of Brindisa, she has pioneered Spanish food in the UK, discovering food makers and producers, sharing excellent ingredients and celebrating the true taste of Spain.
The Perelló snacking and kitchen range has grown to include olives, pickles, nuts, snacks, olive oil crackers, and pulses. Today we share our growing range of Spanish appetisers and ingredients with customers and consumers across the UK and beyond.
